Scaleclean's vision is green homes powered by electric cars and solar panels. Our mission is to make it easy and fast for homes to own an electric car and deploy a rooftop solar panel. Green home is a home that stands against climate change.
By betting on scaling rooftop solar as the clean-electricity source, we also hope to bring electricity to about 860 million people who don't have access to it. This will create a massive number of local jobs and change the lives of millions of kids.
We know that climate change caused by global warming is the greatest pressing challenge that humanity faces. We also know that carbon emissions, mainly carbon dioxide, are a primary driver of global warming. About 50 billion tons of carbon emissions are typically added to the atmosphere every year. They stay there for hundreds of years, trapping heat and warming the planet.
The truth is we've long understood the threat of man-made climate change. As early as 1979, we knew what's coming and how to avoid it through the JASON report and the Charney report. In the years that passed, it has worsened. You are probably reading this after having experienced more and more hot days in recent years and wondering if this trend will continue. Unfortunately, the answer is Yes. There will be more really hot days and extreme climate events in the future. Really hot days are just the tip of the iceberg though.
Not adding carbon emissions to the atmosphere is the best we can do to reduce warming and avoid a climate disaster. The single most important thing we can do to stop emissions is to power everything using clean electricity. This is partly because producing electricity is a major contributor to carbon emissions. And partly because several other significant contributors such as transportation and manufacturing can be decarbonized using clean electricity.
The great news is that we already have technologies such as electric cars and solar panels to do just that. However, we must make the switch quickly at scale because clearly, time is running out. Scaleclean is our attempt to accelerate that switch. Our approach is to empower people like you and me to make that switch, starting with our homes.
